Here, I will try to gather as much information for you guys.
First and foremost, here are some details about me, so that you can get a clearer picture of my personal background. I am a third year degree student from a local private university, MMU Cyberjaya. My internship duration was from March 2016 until June 2016. (Yup, my batch went for our intern during our trimester break). The placed that I worked as an Intern was Telekom Malaysia Berhad Malaysia that is located in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
Before our internship, I went to a briefing organized by my faculty lecturer, Dr Noor Ashikin. So here are some things that you need to prepare before going for your internship. Mind that it varies for other faculties and courses. As for Bachelor of Finance, here are some notes from my phone that I got to jot down on 2nd December 2015 (briefing).
Main Requirements :
- Minimum credit hour : 80 credit hours
- Minimum internship period : 12 weeks (depending on the company, TM wanted us to work for 14 weeks)
Example : 14/3/15-3/6/15
If you failed to complete these requirement, you must write an appeal letter telling why you want to go for internship
Things To Prepare Before Internship :
- Personal cover letter
- Resume or curriculum vitae (CV)
- University cover letter (MMU's cover letter)
- Photostat IC
- Photostat ID
- Bank details (must be verified, if you have CIMB, go to CIMB nearby where people go play Pokemon Go, get it stamped there)
- (above) print two copies.
- 1 is for you
- another 1 is for you to get a signature from Dr Noor Ashikin then photostat it
Note :
- For Bachelor of Finance student, your internship field must be related to Finance.
-If you are in Marketing, means it needs to be regarding Marketing.
Question : I am in Finance, but I got offered in Marketing department, can I accept this offer?
Answer : Yes or NO? Wait for my upcoming post!
- Once confirmed, you cannot change the company.
LOL. I changed. Sorry, I broke the rule. But I have my own reason, later I will explain why (upcoming post!)
- Please register yourself with Industrial Training Coordinator (ITC) - Dr Noor Ashikin
- Manual registration (currently) if the online registration is not available
Note 2 :
Compulsory. THE MOST IMPORTANT. (All below)
Please take note of the date line, it is the most crucial thing ever.
- Date line : week 2 of trimester (next sem!) (Usually the briefing is on the semester before you go for Intern)
- List down the possible companies
- Short list it and before week 7 or earlier of the trimester before internship.
- You need to get an offer from any company.
- Since my internship was in March, "by January must get offer already, by week 2 must register already."
- You need to have an insurance, mine is from Great Eastern
-(they will keep you insured and protect you, can ask me further if you do not understand)
-Print the proof, get it stamped or verified because it is important
- Since Cyberjaya is within Selangor, lecturers will visit. KL also.
- If you were to be an Intern in Kedah, there is no site visit for you.
- Presentation slides : around 10 slides about the company
Site Visit Form (The 2 important forms must submit before week 2 of next semester) :
- You have to submit it with offer letter to Dr Ashikin
- You must write BHD or SDN BHD
- The name of supervisor (in the form) : is the name of the supervisor of the company not the lecturer
